  • David is one year old!  And as I sat eating breakfast with him at 5am this morning, I was struck by how much babies accomplish in a year.  To put it in perspective:  last year, at 5am on November 21st, I was cracking jokes with the nurses in the pre-op room ("it's not your first day, right!??!") and David couldn't even breathe oxygen!  He was still en utero.  And now, one year later, he's sitting here at the kitchen table "feeding himself" oatmeal.  It's a tremendous accomplishment.

Even if I had twenty kids, I don't think I would ever cease to be amazed at how QUICKLY they grow from a little blob who cannot even uncross their eyes to a human being who can actually function!

It can make you feel a bit lazy - what have YOU accomplished this year?

  • Not as much as David, that's for sure!

  • Well, I created a life this year. That's more than I accompished last year.  Thanks for the congrats, by the way.

Babies are amazing creatures.  I loved the video.

  • That's cute! (Although it looks like most of it is on the table...but I'm not nitpicking!)

I taught myself braille this year (no I didn't), bought a house, (lie) and dyed my hair (partially untrue). After that I decided that it would be a good idea to invest some of my earnings into a stock portfolio (is that even a real thing?) and went on a diet...(I guess if you consider eating three times as much four fewer times a day a diet). So, yeah...

Your kid has accomplished a whole lot more than I did. Which now makes me feel...like a failure and a whiner.

    Thanks.

  • RYC: Sadly, I think I AM the stuffed dummy. *sigh*

Wouldn't that be fantastic if we could take a "Gone Sledding" day? I'd probably go on a Tuesdays, just because Tuesdays are like the most horrible days of the week. You're not close to the weekend and it still feels a little too much like Monday.

Yes, I shall try to implement "Gone Sledding Tuesdays"! I love it!
