Poetry Appreciation 101
This one is courtesy of the fridge in my friend Dave's Nana Flo's house in Yonkers:
Dust if you must, but wouldn't it be better
To paint a picture or write a letter,
Bake a cake or plant a seed.
Ponder the difference between want and need.
Dust if you must, but there's not much time,
With rivers to swim and mountains to climb,
Music to hear and books to read,
Friends to cherish and life to lead.
Dust if you must, but the world's out there
With the sun in your eyes, the wind in your hair,
A flutter of snow, a shower of rain.
This day will not come around again.
Dust if you must, but bear in mind,
Old age will come and it's not kind.
And when you go and go you must,
You, yourself, will make more dust.
Remember, a house becomes a home when you can write "I love you"
on the furniture....

OMG, I LOVE IT! I'm printing it out and posting in the entry way of my house!
you know, i was going to pick up the house tonight, but i think i'll find something better to do;)
I love the comment that Barrington left...I swear to God, I thought the phrase "pick up the house" was strictly a midwest thing! I'm glad to see that ridiculous phrases span the continent!
I LOVE IT!!!! I've got to print that out and post it on my frig.
Thank you!!
I highly recommend my method for nosy neighbors!!
My neighbor across the road is the county gossip and the proud parent of a six-year-old demon that's she's always wanting someone to babysit. Not only do my dogs keep her and her demon on their side of the road, she makes him play in the back yard when I let my dogs out into their fence. And babysitting isn't even an issue anymore.
Thanks for stopping by!
RYC: I've always been jealous of all of the other members of my family that get called for jury duty almost every month, but now that it's my turn, well, I'm a little bit afraid. However, now I'm thinking about becoming a movie star, or who I would want to play me (Julia Roberts, except my mouth isn't that big...) Crap, now I'm all excited! Come on August 8th!
Wow. I loved this!!!
Thank you.
This poem is now posted on my refrigerator!!
