  • You CAN teach an old dog new tricks!

I am 33 years old and just cooked my first ever hard-boiled egg yesterday.  It’s (obviously) not hard to do, but I’ve never really liked them so I’ve just never ever made one.  I even had to look up in a cookbook how to do it!

I sprinkled it on the Chicken Cobb Pitas I made for dinner last night and, I have to say, it was delicious!  And I was so proud, you’d think I had gathered the egg from the henhouse myself.

My husband wasn’t too impressed.  He said he made egg salad in college all the time…

  • Antibiotics Are Awesome

After suffering for a week with some pretty severe sinus pain, I finally broke down and went to the doctor.  (I didn’t have a fever so I thought that meant I didn’t have a sinus infection.)  Turns out it was a sinus infection and after 24 hours on antibiotics I felt like my old self again.  Woohoo!

And it just got me thinking….Antibiotics Are Awesome!  First of all, I can get back to my life pain-free.  Secondly, people used to die from these little infections and we are 100% better in 24 hours.  We are so lucky!

I am so sick and tired (no pun intended!) of people complaining about the healthcare system in the US.  We should be on our knees thanking the people who came before us.  We have antibiotics.  We have vaccines that save our kids from horrible, horrible diseases.  We have MRIs and out-patient surgery and epidurals for childbirth and x-rays and advil and the list goes on and on.  Yes, it costs a lot of money.  But isn’t your good health worth it?  And why does everyone all of a sudden feel like it is the government’s job to keep everyone healthy?  I’d rather have the responsibility for my own good health.

  • March

I am SO GLAD it is finally March!  February is my least favorite month.  Always has been.  When I was in school my grades always went down in February.  Now I just get mopey.

It’s not that I hate winter.  I actually love winter – sledding, skiing, ice skating, etc.  In fact, I think I have more outdoor hobbies in winter than summer.  I really can’t put my finger on what it is about February – maybe all the gray days or something.  At the very least – I’m thankful that my least favorite month is also the shortest!

On a side note that is totally unrelated…. I wish they would distinguish non-organic food into two sub-groups.  1.  Food that has just been grown in fertilized soil and 2. Food that has been sprayed with nasty pesticides, etc.

I don’t mind eating food that has been fertilized, but I’d love to do away with anything that has been sprayed/treated with chemicals.  I don’t even know why I’ve been thinking about this so much lately – I can’t afford to buy all organic food these days!
